SJ: You mentioned Boyd Rankin. [Eoin] Morgan was there too. Now they are playing for England, so is Ed Joyce. What is your take on that? Ireland spends all this effort, time and money and gets them up to speed and gives them all the opportunities and then England takes them all.
TJ: It's not good. I don't like it, but you can't blame the players. The players want to play Test match cricket. They want to play ODI cricket, a lot of ODI cricket. At present we are the top Associate country and we can't give them Test cricket. We play three or four Full Members a year. When you are playing as a Full Member, you are playing about 25-30 ODIs a year. We are trying to give them international exposure. We have got to understand that it is these guys' career. We are slightly chipping away and hoping that we can get the ICC to come on board and take our application into being the 11th Full Member. We have to make sure that Boyd is the last Irishman to play for England.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

What's "SJ" and "TJ"? At least cite the source, Chairs! TJ = Trent Johnston? Who's SJ then?
I agree, BTW. I mean what's the point if everyone's leaking off to play for Poms? Lets say if Morgs and Rankin had stuck to Ireland, they'd be more than a formidable team in at least the shorter formats.
Not Poms' fault, but the Irish board should make sure that players don't leave, and ICC should stop sucking BCCI's d**k and actually work on developing these associate nations. Especially Ireland, who could develop a lot in the shorter formats.

Ireland deserves ODI and test status and while you are at it give it also to Guyana and Jamaica .
Dont stop there give it to all the west indies countries who will be pummeling the Irish in this tournament
Ireland is not a cricket playing country , never been , never will be ... football and hurling that is all they care about.
Sure , they will produce some average cricketers but the majority of players will be immigrants who could never make it in their own countries.
The I CC if they care to fulfill their mandate should concentrate on places like Kenya which is a hotbed of cricket
.
They should never spend money on developed countries like Ireland and Canada , countries that has sport ministries where huge funds are allocated for sports .
If cricket were so important in such countries then let those cricket fans agitate for funds from existing sports budgets to develop cricket .
Scarce ICC funds should only be spent on third world countries.

I agree although Joyce is now back playing for the Irish.
The ECB should help support the Irish Authorities so they keep their players. It is not as if the cupboard is bare. We have Tremlett & Co waiting on the sidelines.

I don't know what you lot see in Rankins tbh. Tremmers or even Onions I'd pick in tests, far ahead of Rankin. What exactly has Rankin done so much to impress the selectors? Is this the kind of "forseeing potential" kinda thing?
Morgs is the only Irishman I'd say is crucial to your lineup in the shorter formats.
Either way, as I said, don't blame ECB, ICC really needs to put more effort in developing Irish cricket, although I doubt they would - because I'm sure they have other important plans, like sucking BCCI's d**k and so on.
