mmmm! the way I saw it Flower looked a very bad coach in his public persona, pronouncements, comments, interviews etc., from the defeat, the arrival in Oz of Downton.. to now... and was sure to be fired..and deserved to be.
Flower was exposed as a control freak, a dictator, as responsible for the defeat as any players failure.
it was also clear that Flower saw a power vacuum in english cricket admin with the arrival of Downton as its head, and made a grab for more power as a Czar-ish figure of great experience, a monopoly of that in the mix as all others, especially Downton... were new or had less power than he.
english cricket elites simply would not allow that and he wud be fired I thought. and he has been.
Flower, a head coaching flagship in favour of that ridiculously useless but dangerous position in cricket has proven he is no better than the all the rest, and a strong piece of evidence in support of my case against the position and for its abolishment from the game.
Flower ultimately proved to be as foolish as all the rest of the coaching ilk.
in the meantime Gibson has proved out to be not so foolish after all. Gibson is a saboteur and he is very, very good at it, working wih Buttsy another saboteur on the destruction of west indies cricket..either by design or omission.
by omission I mean that it is now clear that the selection to go to Indian and Kiwi was an Indian BCCI selection. it now seems clear that that team was intimated by India, that they did not wish a strong team to embarrass Tendulkar and that the wicb obliged them by the selection they came up with.
so it was good Roach was injured and sent back home. it would not sooprise if that was the intent in selecting Roach in the first place..to send him home if he could not perform hobbled..in which case as hobbled he would be no threat to India
in hindsight Rampaul had no chance at all..as punishment for bowling down Tendulkar previously, and fear that he might do it again. it is clear the Indians did not appreciate Rampaul bowling down Tendy the first time, as an Indian in India. and enjoying it too. they took the opportunity to punish him for that, to make an example of him perhaps for NRI.
the selection of Tino Best is deliberate, to neutralise west indies bowling attack. there is no way Gibson can be serious about all he chats in Bests' favour. Gibson cannot be that foolish and he is not.
there is very little Gibson and Buttsy had to do to take a better pace attack to India. it was there in their faces..Rampaul, Holder, Johnson..Andre Richardson..even the kid Cummins who is a better prospect than Cottrell
they did not select those players because they knew what India wanted and selected that. that is destruction by omission. that is Gibson's job and he is very good at it. so he has been rewarded for doing it marvelously all along
more evidence for killing the head coach position..not to mention the wicb

Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
