Chairman of the local organising committee in charge of the Nagico Super50 cricket tournament, Azim Bassarath has reported that everything is in place for a great ‘cricket carnival’. The tournament bowls off tomorrow with the Windward Islands meeting Jamaica at the Queen’s Park Oval from 2 pm. The TTCB president praised the West Indies Cricket Board for agreeing to bring the tournament to the twin-island republic for the next three years and promised a tremendous start. “Kudos also to the marketing committee of the WICB for the work they have been doing. Let me also thank the government and the corporate world for their support and the board members of my organising committee for their co-operation and commitment to duty,†said Bassarath.

“We are well on track and the teams are currently arriving as we speak. Things are running smoothly at the airport and we are happy for all the corporation we have been receiving.Members of the organising committee held their final meeting last evening with authorities at the Oval. This inspection was the final one before the tournament gets going. Bassarath added that work is going on apace in Tobago and an official of the committee would fly across on the weekend to ensure that things are going according to plan. Shaw Park in Tobago will host two matches in the two-week tournament.
