Hundreds of people including West Indies star batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Prime Minister Samuel Hinds attended the funeral service of former Public Relations Officer of the Guyana Cricket Board, Terence Ormonde Holder, yesterday at St. Andrew’s Scot Kirk, Avenue of the Republic, Stabroek.

The burial of the late Holder has been delayed due to the inclement weather which caused flooding to the LeRepentir Cemetery.
Officials from the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) and Private Sector Commission among others delivered addresses at the service.
President of the GCB Drubahadur said Holder was always willing to share his knowledge with anyone and was very instrumental in the establishment of the board’s Hall of Fame adding that his input will be missed.
Pamela Briggs of GT&T stated that Holder served the company with distinction for over twenty years and had a positive impact of the lives of many. She said that Holder, who was the company’s Deputy General Manager, built a good relationship between staff and managers. “He was approachable and staff sought his advice in difficult times,†she added.
Cricket commentator Brij Parasnath labeled him as one of the greatest sports ambassadors the Caribbean has produced. He informed that Holder played an important role in his career, had a passion for Guyana and West Indies cricket, and also played vital role when Carl Hooper

returned as captain of the Guyana team in 2001, which many felt was the resurrection of the game locally.
Holder also served as head of the Caribbean Broadcasting Union and General Manager of the Guyana Broadcasting Union. The burial of the late Terence Holder will be announced shortly.
