EVIN LEWIS returned to haunt his former club in a big way on Sunday evening, as he blazed his way to 118 as Jenexcon Tableland whipped Powergen Penal by four wickets in the final preliminary round match of the University of the West Indies (UWI) T20 Cricket Tournament at the Sir Frank Worrell Ground, UWI St Augustine campus.
Tableland posted 227 runs for six wickets in 19.5 overs, in response to Powergen’s 224/5. The Tableland team, captained by ex-Trinidad and Tobago and West Indies middle-order batsman Lincoln Roberts, features discarded national ‘limited overs specialist’ William Perkins, Kenton Thompson and Brent Harriott.
But Lewis, recently named to the national team for the Nagico Super 50 Tournament which will be held here in the twin-island republic, showed no mercy on the team in which he starred with distinction for the past few years.
Chasing a victory target of 225, Tableland lost Perkins and Kenton Thompson in the first over - a maiden - delivered by the un-orthodox off-spinner Varoon Samaroo.
But Lewis, with support from E St Clair (19) and then Roberts (53 not out off 37 balls with four boundaries and three sixes), tore into the Powergen bowling, as he reached his fifty off 21 balls with four fours and five sixes and then his hundred off 40 balls with five fours and 11 sixes.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

Lewis needs a trial run on the WI test team. He's been batting well for a long time now, and did well in the Champions T20.
