I guess it was since they never met their target of $42M .... even though ticket sales (which were ridiculously priced) grossed $32m despite the poor numbers attending since out of the reach of the 'man on the street'.
So much was wrong with that WC. From over-priced tickets, to everything that made watching cricket enjoyable and an experience in the Caribbean as was tabooed by over-the-top security....
Local businesses got burned as did some governments who spent whopping amounts on stadiums ... JAM I think spent $100m on Trelawny and refurbishment of Sabina .... The booing at the final presentation of the local and ICC representatives said it all...
Am trying to remember the name of the guy who was in charge and who talked it up so much before the event despite the shambolic preparations with the grounds etc. ?? Chris somebody ??
Then of course Bob Woolmer's death cast a dark shadow on the whole scenario with the media hysteria which followed.
