The best team will walk away with $25,000 when the University of the West Indies (UWI) hosts its T20 Cricket Tournament from Friday t0 January 25, comprising local teams and visiting teams from UWI Cave Hill and UWI Mona, at the Sir Frank Worrell Cricket Ground, UWI Spec, St Augustine, the venue for all matches. Sixteen (16) teams will play through a preliminary round, vying for a place in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds, with the undefeated teams progressing to the final.
The tournament will feature top clubs from Trinidad, as well as from Tobago, along with teams from UWI St Augustine and the University of T&T (UTT). The defending champion, Esmeralda, from Central Trinidad, will be the top ranked team for this year’s competition. There will be cash prizes for all teams progressing beyond the preliminary round, as well as for the man-of-the-match, big sixes and special bowling performances. The tournament, which has the full support of the T&T Cricket Board, will be played over eight days and will feature three double-headers and two triple-headers.
