Shillingford to Rutherford, OUT, what a stunner! New Zealand lose their first wicket a few minutes before
lunch, it was tossed up on off, Rutherford went for the loft that brought him a six last over, he hit it out of
the middle but hoisted it high rather than far,
Deonarine was stationed at a three-quarters long-on
but was nevertheless forced into backpedalling and the ball appeared to be likely to fall behind him
until he stuck his right hand out behind his shoulder and the ball stuck as Deonarine tumbled over
in controlled fashion, if that doesn't inspire the visitors nothing will, outstanding fielding !!!!
Rutherford c Deonarine b Shillingford 62 (10x4 1x6) SR: 74.69

and only bowled 6 overs? seriously!
dumbass captain!
with that amount of licks Gabriel was getting, Deo should have least double his amount of overs AND Shiv should have been given a few overs too!

Given the rampage, any bowler keeping it tightly should bowl more with the attacking option, to put pressure on the batsmen.
In this case the economical bowler was Deonarine and had he been kept on longer they may have gone after him but that will never be known. However, in my view, he should have been utilised a bit more.
Had I been captain I would have used Gabriel as he is selected as one of the main strike bowlers so he has to bowl. Fact is he is coming back after some time out so even if he proves a bit expensive he needs to bowl to get back into a rhythm.
In fact Gabriel seemed to have pulled it back marginally, purely based on the numbers at different points of the day. He is young and if he is to rise to the challenge hie has to bowl and continue learning his craft.
If there are any real concerns it should be the unthinking manner in which Best bowls. He will beat the batsmen outside off, then follow up with a rubbish short ball, continuously!
Best seems to have all the attributes to be a very good fast bowler, fast, aggressive, a heart of a Lion but sadly lacks the most important attribute and that is tactical thinking. If he cannot work a batsman out at this stage of his career, then , it is possible, he never will.

His action belie his words b4 Game start !
he refused to bowl the most "containment" bowler !
Guess self preservation dictates that Deo must NOT be seen as a :
Better all Rounder than Sammy....
stunning catches , more wickets and more runs !
