Aussie-born batsman Sam Robson could be a future star for England.
SYDNEY-born Sam Robson made a gutsy hundred in Brisbane this week ... for England.
Robson, 24, on tour with the England Performance Programme showed he could be a future star as he retired not out on 102 against a Queensland second XI at Allan Border Field.
Despite calling Australia home for the majority of his life, Robson is adamant he would only answer the call from the Three Lions.
"If somewhere down the line I get a call-up from England that would be unbelievable and that's definitely the route I want to go down but I'm under no illusions about how tough that would be," Robson said in The Daily Mail.
"There are a lot of players ahead of me but ever since I made my life and career in England I've wanted to improve and take this as far as I can."
Robson has been in stunning form for Middlesix in recent years and has become one of the best opening batsmen in county cricket since leaving Sydney for London six years ago, scoring 1,180 first-class runs last season at 47.
England are undoubtedly pleased Robson is more Craig White than Andrew Symonds when it comes to choosing his allegiance.
"A lot of people had conversations with Sam to find out where he stands, what he wants to be, and that decision has been made," said England selector Geoff Miller.
"There had to be a determination that he wants to play for England. I do not know whether it is in writing but enough people have talked to him and he has that passion."
Robson - who opened the batting at Middlesex with current Test opener Chris Rogers - has comfortable with his decision and looking forward to what the future might hold.
"When I went to England I had no idea where I would end up," said Robson.
"My mantra was just to keep improving and see where it took me. I immediately loved London and loved Lord's when I got a chance with Middlesex. It is a very special place to go to work every day, almost too good to be true, and six years on this is where I am.
"Now all my family and friends fully support what I'm doing and know where my priorities lie."

So he's born Aussie and want to play for Poms? Haha, Poms are the best example of diversity - they've got the whole lot
Either way, he averages sub 40 as for now. I'm pretty sure the attention is merely due to to born Oz - want to play for Poms aspect.
