The Perth Scorchers have secured the services of West Indies opening batsman Dwayne Smith for this season's Big Bash League.
Smith is a well-regarded Twenty20 player, having won titles with Sussex, Deccan Chargers, West Indies and Mumbai Indians throughout his career.
The 30-year-old will arrive in good touch having been named the 2013 Champions League Twenty20 Player of the Series, a tournament at which he helped Mumbai claim the title with 223 runs at an average of 55.75 and a strike rate of 142.94.
Smith said he was looking forward to continuing that form with the Scorchers.
"I'm really happy to have signed with the Perth Scorchers, they look to have a great squad of players with a good mixture of youth and experience," Smith said.
"The BBL is a tournament all players want to be involved in so I'm really looking forward to joining the lads in Perth and making an impact.
"Hopefully I can get the side off to a good start at the top of the order and continue on my good form from the recent Champions League in India.
Smith has previously played T20 cricket on Australian shores as a member of the NSW outfit in the 2009-10 Big Bash League.
