Oh no! Shakib's been overtaken by Ashwin? Sucks
And he don't have many tests either. Oh well.

Since when did Philander qualify as an all rounder? haha.
I'm not even sure Broad is an all rounder, he certainly isn't good enough to bat at 6.
Kallis is the best all rounder in that list, one of the best ever.

You do realize that it's recent performance that counts, not whether they're all time greats or anything? Philander has chipped in OK with bat in the recent past, and has been excellent with the ball, so there ya go. Broad is a bowling allrounder.
Kallis is certainly the all time great, doesn't mean he's in form. He's done jack shit recently, as an allrounder. He doesn't bowl all that much, let alone pick wickets. And batting has been on the meh side a bit too.

I know the ICC rankings are based on recent form. I just have a different view on what constitutes a genuine all-rounder, it's subjective.
The likes of Broad are not genuine all-rounders. Broad is a bowler who bats a bit, as you said yourself.

Seeing Ashwin there doesn't surprise me but number one? Maybe I haven't been keeping note of his performances with the bat, but I doubt he's been that good lately.

Even as a South African I can't argue with you. Kallis may have been the best all-rounder in the world, but that's a thing of the past. When last I looked he'd even fallen out of the top 10 test batsmen and there's no guarantee he'll get back up there. I do think Philander has the makings of a decent all-rounder though. But it's always better when the top order score most of the runs, so that the likes of Philander and Steyn can concentrate on their bowling.

Where's Gayle on this list, he's one of the best all rounders to me.
