Sugar Aloes serenades Kamla

The bombshell of last night’s People’s Partnership second anniversary rally turned out to be two-time Calypso Monarch Michael “Sugar Aloes” Osuna’s surprise serenade of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

Osuna has been an ardent supporter of the Opposition People’s National Movement and vocal critic of the People’s Partnership, particularly of the majority party of the coalition, the United National Congress.

However, last evening he had the mammoth crowd gathered at Mid Centre Mall, Chaguanas swaying in delight as he sang Taurrus Riley’s reggae hit “She’s Royal” in tribute to Persad- Bissessar, whom he brought out on stage dancing.

“She’s royal, so royal,” sang Osuna, with the crowd singing along. His performance set the mood for Persad-Bissessar’s feature address moments after.
