The bodily mark is my father's mum since it is her birth certificate. Within the certificate states her father's name being Ratan and the ship they came on from India!! End of story!
My mum was born on 2nd April 1918 and my dad being August 17, 1914.

they probably didnt have birth certificates and someone had to register themselves at some point.
i dont think its unheard of.

No photocopies - they are all originals. Just noticed at the back of my grandmother's certificate my father wrote that his mum (my grandmother) died on Sept. 7, 1958 at age 65 years...wow!!
