Jan. 27 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of the following companies are having unusual moves in U.S. trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and prices are as of 10:15 a.m. in New York.
Solar shares gained as chief executive officers from Suntech Power Holdings Co. (STP US) and Trina Solar Ltd. (TSL US) said China may double its installations of solar panels this year, absorbing excess production that depressed prices and margins in 2011. Suntech added 3.1 percent to $3.34. Trina rose 2.7 percent to $8.30. First Solar Inc. (FSLR US) climbed 6.5 percent to $43.61.

Cepheid Inc. (CPHD US) surged 19 percent to $40.98 after jumping 21 percent earlier, the most intraday since July 22. The maker of a rapid test for drug-resistant staph infections reported fourth-quarter revenue of $80.1 million, surpassing the average analyst estimate of $73.9 million.
