Former Mayor of Georgetown Patricia Chase-Green has joined the ruling People’s Progressive Party (PPP).
Chase-Green was Mayor of Georgetown under the People’s National Congress, the major party in the APNU Coalition.
Donned in a red (the main colour of the PPP), Chase-Green was seen among PPP executives and members on their way to present the PPP’s list of candidates to contest the upcoming Local Government elections.
She entered politics in the early 1990’s after she was approached by then Mayor Hamilton Green to join his “Good and Green” group.
Chase-Green, from New Amsterdam, Berbcie, worked for nearly four decades as a nurse.
She was elected Mayor of Georgetown on April 1, 2016 following the Local Government elections of that year and remained in the post until January 2019.

Noticeably missing was current Mayor of Georgetown, Ubraj Narine, and former party Chairperson Volda Lawrence, among others. Norton faced questions on this development during his weekly virtual press conference on Thursday.
“For me, the most important support is the support of the membership of this party, and the people on the road, on the ground, those support I have. As far as I know, I have the support,” Norton said.
