HAVE YOU SEEN IT COMING -
APNU WILL TABLE QUESTIONS IN PARLIAMENT ON THE GOVT AND CHINA TRADE LINK......AND THE 'DEBT TRAP' UNDER THE BELT AND ROADS INITIATIVE.
IN GUYANA - HOW MANY PROJECTS BY CHINA HAVE BEEN COMPLETED, HOW MANY ONGOING, HOW MUCH DO WE OWE, THE TERMS OF REPAYMENT AND HOW MUCH WE OWE GENERALLY TO ALL MONETARY LENDERS....AT HOME AND ABROAD.
BASED ON CHINA'S SEIZURE OF STATE PROPERTIES IN COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD, INCLUDING UGANDA'S ONLY AIRPORT, AND DEEP WATER PORT IN SRI LANKA....MAJOR CONCERNS ARE RAISED.
"In 2018 , the Center for Global Development found that Djibouti, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, the Maldives, Mongolia, Montenegro, Pakistan and Tajikistan – countries among the poorest in their respective regions — will owe more than half all their foreign debt to China.
Last year, with more than $1 billion in debt to China, Sri Lanka handed over a port to companies owned by the Chinese government. Now Djibouti, home to the US military’s main base in Africa, looks about to cede control of another key port to a Beijing-linked company, and the US is not happy about it.
WE NOW KNOW THAT UGANDA HAS NOW HANDED OVER THEIR AIRPORT TO CHINA.
I WOULD SUGGEST THAT THE PRESIDENT PUT THE NATION AT EASE AND TAKE THE WIND OUT OF THE OPPOSITION MAST BY MAKING A VERY CLEAR AND UNAMBIGUOUS STATEMENT ON ALL DEALINGS WITH CHINA AND HOW MUCH WE OWE AND HOW WE PROPOSE TO REPAY THEM.
A RECENT ARTICLE SUGGESTS THAT CHINA WANTS THE HIGHWAY TO BRAZIL VERY BADLY AND THEY WILL EXPEDITE THE BUILD....FUNDS PROVIDED BY OTHER LENDERS. CHINA WANTS EASY ACCESS TO NORTHERN BRAZIL AND THE REST OF THE CONTINENT OF SOUTH AMERICA.....AND GUYANA IS MAKING THAT POSSIBLE FOR THEM.

It is so sad, nay tragic, that Kaieteur News, in its vehement mission to 'take down' the PPP government, deals in lies, half truths, distortions, confirmation bias, begging the question, lack of balance, unethical journalism and blatant editorialising. Glen Lall, it seems has learnt nothing from all the lawsuits he's faced and is facing. It would be a pity if Kaieteur News folds, or scales down its output because of these lawsuits, especially since its role as a non governmental media ought to a critical one.
