Nah - every hockey afficiando will tell you that 87 Canada Cup was the pinnacle of the sport. You had the very best of the old Soviet team and very best of the Canadian team both at their PEAK.
You sure about that Challenge cup being played in 1991 - I've no recollection of it and in those days I was a Hockey nut.

i KNOW NOT TO GO AGAINST YOU but I was a hockey fanatic and it was all because of the russians , the first canada cup was in 76 and the canadians won , dryden in canada goal and vladmir dzuralla in the checks goal, few of the russian stars paRTICIPATED

The Russians back then played finesse hockey - which is the hockey I liked to see. It's why I was a huge fan of Gretzky and the Oilers. They played that European/Russian style (no look passes, crisp accurate passing, creative set plays, deks, etc etc).
