FOUR armed bandits attacked and robbed two neighbours at Mibicuri, Black Bush Polder, getting away with gold and silver jewellery, and cash totalling $359,000.
On Saturday evening, cash crop farmer, Allao Chetty Marmor was in his kitchen while his wife, Madai Mangru, was seated in a hammock under their two storied home, when she was confronted by two masked bandits who threatened to shoot her, should she raise an alarm.
Pointing the gun at her, they took her into the kitchen, ordering her to lie on the floor, while Mangru hand over the valuables.
Two other bandits took the 51-year-old man to the upper flat, where he removed a gold ring, a silver chain, three silver rings, a silver band and $30,000 from his wardrobe, and handed them over to the robbers.
The robbers were dissatisfied with the booty, ransacked the upper flat, before returning to the lower flat, where the victim and his wife were beaten with a cutlass and tied together with bed sheets.
Minutes later the bandits invaded the nearby home of 23-year-old farmer, Omdat Seecharran, who was lying in his bed with his wife Alana.
The thieves, two masked and one unmasked, all armed with long guns, had entered through an open door. They got away with two pairs of gold bangles, a gold ring and $23,000 in cash.
The couple was ordered to lie on the floor, face down, and covered with a sheet. The robbers discharged three rounds and escaped.
Investigations are continuing.
