According to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index, Jeff Bezos’ net worth just hit $129 billion, up a whopping $30.1 billion thus far in 2018. Bezos now holds a huge lead over the world’s second-richest person, Microsoft founder and philanthropist Bill Gates, whose net worth is $92 billion, and who has made “only” $128 million in 2018.

Florida Governor Rick Scott signed the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act on Friday—the first gun law to be passed by the state since the Parkland shooting last month. The bill tightens some gun-control measures, but also permits teachers to be armed in specific cases. The controversial portion of the bill, called the Coach Aaron Feis Guardian Program, “arms some teachers if both the local school district and local sheriff's department agree.” It's named after the coach who used his body to shield students from gunfire and died during the shooting. Both parents and teachers expressed reservations about arming teachers, with the teachers union urging Scott to line-item veto the program out of the bill. The law also raises the minimum age to buy a gun from 18 to 21, bans bump stocks, gives law enforcement greater authority to seize weapons and ammo from those “mentally unfit,” and provides additional funding for school officers. Meanwhile, the National Rifle Association filed a federal lawsuit against the state to block the law that Scott signed.

President Trump will be getting his desired military parade in Washington, D.C., but without the tanks. He had been attracted to the idea of such a parade after seeing the Paris Bastille Day, an event which has such heavy military vehicles. That’s according to a Pentagon memo released on Friday saying that only wheeled vehicles would be involved in order to prevent damage to streets. The event is currently being planned for Veterans Day and will go along a route from the White House to the Capitol.

President Trump on Saturday congratulated a former Navy sailor he’d pardoned a day earlier for illegally retaining photographs of top-secret areas inside a nuclear submarine. “Congratulations to Kristian Saucier, a man who has served proudly in the Navy, on your newly found Freedom. Now you can go out and have the life you deserve!” Trump wrote on Twitter. Saucier, 31, became the second person to receive a pardon from the president after former Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio. He was working as a garbage collector when he learned Trump pardoned him on Friday. Saucier pleaded guilty in May 2016 to one count of unauthorized possession and retention of national defense information, and he was sentenced to a year in prison. During his presidential campaign, Trump had compared Saucier’s case to the scandal over Hillary Clinton’s private email server, questioning why the former sailor was sent to prison but Clinton was not. Trump had played down Saucier’s crime, saying he’d just “wanted to take a couple of pictures” and wound up in prison for it.

Minister Amna Ally, at a Fyrish, Corentyne handing over ceremony of a David G bus, said, ‘Region Six did not vote for us, but the coalition Government still supports the people.’
Really? So a government is not supposed to be for the entire nation? Only for those who voted fro theM/ Is that what they stated when they were campaigning...that they would be a government only for those who voted fro them and not for the entire nation?

The Houston Astros were honored at the White House Monday morning after their World Series victory, but star players Carlos Correa and Carlos Beltran were nowhere to be found. Beltran told the press that his absence in Washington had nothing to do with President Trump, but did say that he was “disappointed in the government’s response to the hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico.” Correa, on the other hand, has not given the press any reason for his skipping the Trump visit. With the Astros team members behind him, Trump remarked Monday that the team’s victory after the devastation of Hurricane Harvey in Texas was a “a befitting tribute, what was really a show of world spirit and ‘Houston Strong.’”
