Giants’ Super Bowl-winning safety Tyler Sash dead at 27

Tyler Sash, a safety who spent two seasons with the Giants and was a part of the Super Bowl XLVI champions, was found dead Tuesday morning. He was 27.

The cause of death was not yet known, and an autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday morning. The state medical examiner’s office in Iowa is investigating Sash’s death along with police in Oskaloosa, his hometown.

Foul play was not suspected. No cause of death has been determined, said John Kraemer, the director of forensic operations for the medical examiner.

KCCI in Iowa reported Sash was found at home by a family member who came to walk his dog.

“We were all deeply saddened today to hear of the passing of Tyler,” the Giants said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to Tyler’s family and friends and all the Hawkeyes he was so proud to represent.”
