My dad says hes been in 3 car accidents which now he has to pay around 6,000 per year. I just bought my first car and i asked him if i could put my car under his insurance and i would pay him. But he said no because it would make his payments higher. Is that true?

What he said is very true, and a gross understatement. Having a driver under 25 years old typically makes the payments more than double, even if both parents are on the insurance and the young driver has never had an accident. Insurance is even more expensive if only the father is on the insurance and the mother has not. And the if the young driver has had accidents, that makes it even worse.

In short.. Yes "his/your" insurance would go up. You would have to be put on his insurance for you to put your car on it. As for how much you would have to ask his agent. I personally wouldnt want to be on his insurance. It would looked better for you in the future to establish that you are a good driver. Being on a policy with 3 recent accidents will just make you look bad to future insurance companies. Just shop around and expect to pay alot until your 25. Goes down alot at 22 if you can stay accident free until then as well.
