I think that by wishing happy holika ,we are losing sight of the fact that Holika was an evil woman who lured the righteous Prahalad into the fire to destroy him and was herself destroyed .Prahlad was again saved by Lord Vishnu , so we should be wishing happy Prahalad instead oh happy holika

Ketch,
the name didn't change. Holi is actually the hindi name. The same thing is called Phagwah in the Bhojpuri region of India. That is the north region and covers area like Bihar, where the majority of the guyanese and trinis came from. Thus, why you hear of Phagwah in guyana.

no Phagwah is derived from the word Phagun which means spring and is the 12th month of one of the hindu calendar. and holi is derived from the name Holika -- which growing up in Guyana I am sure we all know the history behind this name

holika was not an evil woman! where did you get that idea from?
Prahalad was the one to believe in God and the King at the time said that there was no higher power than he. so he challenged that his daughter holika could sit in the fire with Prahalad and not get burned, but Prahalad would.....in the end it was Holika that paid the price....not Prahalad.
that is why you throw red dust in the air at pagwah...to signify her blood spilling.
