Beaton has a long road ahead, says Reon King
“The mental stress of remodelling your action…because (having) it deemed an illegal action would be rough. When the conformation comes, it is even more weight on your shoulders, and you are devastated,” the 42-year-old King told Guyana Times Sport on Friday. King last played Test cricket in 1999 against South Africa. He contends that Beaton “needs

Ganga calls on TTCB to accept IRC Report
“I WISH to condemn the Azim Bassarath, leading Executive of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB), in the strongest possible terms for its neglect and failure to implement the recommendations of an Independent Committee which was set up for the sole purpose of considering the Constitutional Arrangements of the cricket board. Archer fills the pace void
(CRICBUZZ)Seldom has there been as much hype surrounding a player who hasn't played an international game before. But those who saw him in the BBL, and in the viral clips from County Cricket on the internet felt they were seeing something special. There was a reason why Rajasthan Royals were willing to pay as much as INR 7.2 Crore to get Jofra Arch

Sir Viv throws weight behind CARICOM intervention
ST JOHN’S, Antigua (CMC) – Legendary former Test captain, Sir Vivian Richards, has thrown his weight behind CARICOM’s efforts at governance reform in West Indies cricket. Shai Hope springs eternal
By Albert Baldeo Don’t get me wrong. I am happy and proud that West Indian Shai Hope has been honored as one of Wisden’s five Cricketers-of-the-Year, and I hope he grows from strength to strength (pardon the pun). Like he said, it as “humbling and was a bit of a shock when I got the news and obviously a huge privilege being named among the five.” M
Sir Hilary urges ICC to sit down with CARICOM
UWI Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Hilary Beckles KINGSTON, Jamaica (CMC) – Renowned regional academic Professor Sir Hilary Beckles said it was critical that cricket’s world governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC), should heed the call of the Caribbean community, in helping to solve the governance crisis in West Indies cricket. Guyana Diaspora Forum

We have a large database of Guyanese worldwide.  Most of our readers are in the USA, Canada, and the UK.  Our Blog and Newsletter  would not only carry  articles and videos on Guyana, but also other articles on a wide range of subjects that may be of interest to our readers in over 200 countries, many of them non-Guyanese  We hope that you like our selections.

It is estimated that over one million Guyanese, when counting their dependents, live outside of Guyana.  This exceeds the population of Guyana, which is now about 750,000.  Many left early in the 50’s and 60’s while others went with the next wave in the 70’s and 80’s.  The latest wave left over the last 20 years. This outflow of Guyanese, therefore, covers some three generations. This outflow still continues today, where over 80 % of U.G. graduates now leave after graduating.  We hope this changes, and soon.

Guyanese, like most others, try to keep their culture and pass it on to their children and grandchildren.  The problem has been that many Guyanese have not looked back, or if they did it was only fleetingly.  This means that the younger generations and those who left at an early age know very little about Guyana since many have not visited the country.  Also, if they do get information about Guyana, it is usually negative and thus the cycle of non-interest is cultivated.

This Guyana Diaspora Online Forum , along with its monthly newsletter, aims at bringing Guyanese together to support positive news, increase travel and tourism in Guyana and, in general, foster the birth of a new Guyana, which has already begun notwithstanding the negative news that grabs the headlines.  As the editor and manager of the publication, I am committed to delivering Blog entries and Newsletters that are politically balanced, and focused on the positive ideas we wish to share and foster among Guyanese.
