It is hard to see any other result. I fully expect Pakistan to win the series 2-0. England have never played well against Pakistan and have been historically poor against spin. To top it all off, there are too many question marks surrounding the batting.

In saying that, every man and his dog (myself included) thought England would be lucky to win even one Test match this summer, yet the ended up with a draw against New Zealand and won back the Ashes. Of course, playing at home had a lot to do with this, but cricket, as we all know and love, has a habit or providing unexpected results.

It would appear that Azhar Ali has been ruled out of the first Test. This is quite a blow for Pakistan although over the last 2 years, they have 5 other batsman with an average of 45+! That is staggering. What a stacked batting lineup.

Steven Finn has been ruled out of the first Test against Pakistan with a "bone stress injury" to his left foot.

Finn reported soreness after England's second warm-up match against Pakistan A in Sharjah in which he claimed 4 for 16 in 15 overs to put himself firmly in contention for Abu Dhabi. He bowled in training on Sunday but overnight the pain became worse.

Alastair Cook confirmed he had "absolutely" been in the frame for the final XI for tomorrow's first Test. With James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Ben Stokes all certain to feature, Finn and Mark Wood had been in a head-to-head for the last pace-bowling slot.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan says Moeen Ali should open the batting for England against Pakistan.

Vaughan also suggests it might be better if bowler Jimmy Anderson misses the tour, saying that "conventional swing has not been that effective" in the UAE.

Current England vice-captain Joe Root says Moeen will "rise to the challenge" if he is picked to open the batting.
