I disagree Rev because if a batsman scores 47 in each innings then that is consistency.

The other example is not consistency by definition. Yes it proves he can score big but is that significant?

I do not see 50 or 100 being magical figures in determining consistency.

Batting consistency is simply the number of scores over fifty expressed as a percentage of total innings played.
