Legend Lara confident of starring in MCL

While he's got a lot more poor performances to go before he starts to ruin his reputation, if that can ever be ruined, I think he might want to maybe re-evaluate just how good he still thinks he really is.

Nothing Lara does will ever ruin his reputation. These games are simply meaningless exhibitions. There are very few people even watching these games - both in the stands and on TV. Have you watched any of this so far? It is only a few of us diehards that are currently watching this.

I am not sure if you read Lara's comments or not, but in the interview, he admits that his reflexes aren't what they once were, that he will be relying upon his teammates to pick him up and that gone are the days where other players could depend on him to carry the team. He also admits that T20 cricket is a much harder format of the game for him. No where in the interview does Lara actually suggest he is going to be a star, the title of the article is clickbait 101.

And that a why I said IF anything can ruin Lara's reputation, because I don't think there is either, and especially not games such as these.

What I was getting at is why not just give up playing and enjoy his retirement? He's certainly earned it and I'm sure he can have other roles in cricket so it's not as if he's leaving the sport for good.

These are exhibitions games that pay well. He is getting a paid vacation to spend a few weeks in Dubai and promote the game of cricket. His involvement also gives the MCL some legitimacy.

The T20 format may seem to be a bit challenging to Lara at first because he is not used to this version of the game, however, I don't seem him having a difficulty in quickly adjusting to suit this format. The demand for him to to blow away the opposition will not be very great because it's more of an exhibition event. However looking forward to Lara raising some ruckus throughout  this tournament, however.
