That is a debut that Chris Morris will never forget - he takes a stunning catch, picks up his first Test wicket (a good one too, in Root) but concedes 150 runs.

One thing this innings also proved is that there is room in a team for the slow and defensive minded players like Cook and Compton when there are shot makers like Root, Stokes, Bairstow, Taylor and Moeen Ali to follow.

Big moment in the game. South Africa have been resolute in their batting this morning until Joe Root comes on and gets Amla to edge his first delivery to Anderson who drops him at first slip. I am not sure how much Jimmy saw of that as he reacted very late.

Both AB and Amla have been dropped now. There is no doubt England will regret both misses. You can't give world class players like AB and Amla second chances. South Africa 176/2.
