It tends to be the little guys who go on to be greats: Ponting, Tendulkar, Lara, Kohli, ABDV etc. The ideal shape for a batsman is compact, medium height and just a bit of muscle.

Kane Williamson was skinny like Paint a few years ago too. Now he's all tight and sexy with buns of steel.

A 1,2,3 of Gayle, Brathwaite and Bravo is a good starting point. Brathwaite and Gayle did well together opening the batting last year, averaging 78 in their 6 innings together (admittedly aided by the 116 opening stand against Bangladesh).

At this point in their careers, Samuels and Ramdin offer nothing with the bat. Number 4 is an incredibly important spot in the lineup. Other teams feature the likes of Smith, Root, de Villiers, Kohli, Younis Khan, Ross Taylor and Chandimal at 4. I would rather see Dowrich in the side ahead of Marlon.
