Upbeat Holder unfazed by underdog tag

Much of the West Indies hope rests on the not inconsiderable shoulders of Holder :

who just turned 24 in November.

He talks of being upbeat, of being confident and positive.

But he also knows his side does not exist in a vacuum and, while his players can only control

their own performances,

there are wider issues that must be addressed if West Indies are to become a serious force once more.

He admits the constant criticism hurts.

There's no point in being beaten before you even go out on to the field, and just because a team are massive underdogs, doesn't mean they can do themselves justice and put up a fight.

While a lot of people say yes not being realistic, I'd rather listen to a player at least make the effort...there's no point being beaten before the first ball is bowled.

The lopsided contest many predicted prior to the match in Hobart panned out exactly as anticipated. It was men against boys as the Windies were only ever in the contest during the first session on day one, before being comprehensively outplayed for the rest of the match.
