Butler is already becoming one of the players to watch in the England team, and even before this performance he looked to have something a bit special.

With Root in there aswell, the future of English cricket looks bright, but I've thought that in the past and for one reason or another things haven't worked out.

Cautiously optimistic I think is the term I'd use for now...

England and Morgan did well to hold their nerve. Pakistan came at them hard, but Morgan stuck with the spinners and it paid off. It was nice to see both Mo and Rashid have some success given how much stick they have taken throughout the Test and ODI series.

Buttler is already in the upper echelon of one day players that can completely take the game away from the opposition. He has had a really tough year but his talent remains. As destructive as Buttler is, the scary part is that ABDV does this game in, game out on a consistent basis.

And that goes back to my point about consistency, but not just players but as a whole team, and that's what England struggle with.

On their day, England have a few players now that can perform megnificently, it's just a shame nobody knows when that day will be.
