As you well now Maps, I have been very vocal about Moeen not being an opening batsman. I understand that England wanted to get a second spinner in the side, but given the ongoing struggles of Bell and Buttler, they would have been far better to have dropped one of those and played Hales as Cook's partner. Leave Mo in the middle order. Hales is going to be thrown to the wolves in South Africa.

As has been the case all year long, if Cook and Root don't both post big scores, England struggle. I guess its too much to ask Sri Lanka to send over some of their rain?
