Afridi: PSL should be played at home

Afridi, who is Pakistan's T20 captain, said: "It would be great if PSL could have been held in Pakistan. As we were talking about the revival of cricket in Pakistan after the Zimbabwe tour to Pakistan, we started to hope that cricket would continue to be played here.

"Our cricket should be played within our own territory. It looks good if our grounds get revived, filled with crowds and our own players get the maximum benefit out of it.

"I am not worried if foreign players come or not, but what is important is the revival of cricket in Pakistan and (that) our youngsters get opportunity to play in front of big crowds."

Interesting line by Afridi saying that he doesn't care if foreign players come or not, he just wants the youngsters to play in front of big crowds. Without those foreign players, what are the chances that these games would draw big crowds?

Getting the big name players to come and play is ultimately what will sell tickets. With no star players, isn't it likely that the youngsters will be playing in front of empty stadiums?

According to the official PSL website:

If the five foreign players per team is true, that would account for 25 foreign-born players. However, there are already 24 players that have already been confirmed to be a part of the PSL. The actual number should be 25 as Michael Carberry has also announced that he will be a part of the PSL but his name is not on the confirmed list. I believe that Dwayne Smith has also been confirmed too, so that would bring the number to 26. Plus, Sangakkara has also expressed an interest in being a part, so I think there will be more than 25 foreigners playing in the PSL.
