for me alone Lara record is this..the greatest batsman who ever played test cricket.

no one passing that until deh arrive and demonstrate it. and yuh know wat dat have to do with...eye contact and great feats of batting, all over the world, in all conditions and situations against all the bowlers...from the best to the worst..demonstrating also the physical skills of greatness - immense mental concentration and emotional strength that allows a batsman to go days when and if necessary..and to do it over at least 10 years.....

who can do that among current batsmen.... ::confused::

they all have oodles of such powers to get where they have. Shive has immense powers of concentration and emotional strength..physical strength to endure..desire to bat, and bat, and bat....

but Lara is the man, beyond all the powers of all great batsmen yet demonstrated, in all these areas.

so I am happy to have had the greatest batsman of all time.  and I am also happy to have Shive who is nearing the top. May he go on to pass even Tendy which is hard but possible.  but Shive is destined to fall just short perhaps..as long as he remains fit.  if he is fit he will score. that is his level....fit at the crease runs are assured.
