We are talking about current issues, in a current series, in the current team.

We are also talking about actual performances and our view of Leroy over a  period of time.

Thought I give it another shot.

Yes I am being hard on Leroy, the Guyanan, as he is the one consistently doing nothing and looking like a fish out of water. And you are in no position to call anyone insular, pot calling kettle black!

However in the interest of discourse,

1.  Brathwaite  - I have always maintained he plays with a closed face so proned to edges to slips and gully on faster pitches and missing the ball in dust bowls. Best of a poor bunch. I had hoped to see a real partnership between him and either Barath or Powell but the latter two went off the rails especially Barath. Brathers the best of a bad bunch and hopefully Powell will return soon.

2.  Leroy - as previously mentioned looks rubbish at International level but derserved his change this series on the back of domestic performances. He looks rubbish in this series. Vishal Singh should have gone in his place but I suspect he too will fail as the psyche of Cricketers coming out of Guyananland seems poor notwithstanding the time it takes Windians to come to terms with International cricket. DROP.

3.  Bravo consistently good and your best batsman.

4.  Samuels, well I have called for him to be dropped from the Test team a few years ago now and it does bring into question the dropping of Shiv and Ramdin as he has done little and seems quite separate from the team, doing his own thing. DROP FOREVER!

5.  Blackwood looks a good prospect and deserves a further run with an average around 33. Needs to temper his approach as he did in the second innings of the recently concluded Test. This showed a measured start leads to picking up the tempo later.

6.  Chase made a good start to his career and should be given a run. Needs to, like Blackwood, be more measured. Many young players seems to think in a T20 mode.

7.  Dorwich/ Hope. I rate neither. I have always maintained I see the Gloveman as a specialist position because of the net worth he brings and neither of these two are good enough glovemen but having opted for Dorwich, the selectors should have given him the entire series. In my view Ramdin should be in the team, batting at 8. DROP

8.  Holder should not be in the test team as his bowling has not improved and his batting is ok. Cannot get into the etam as Captain as he is poor tactically, neither a bowler nor batsman. Sammy mark II but this has been said many times before. DROP

9.  Bishoo, I have always been a great supporter and pleased to see some success. I still think he is not being managed well and he should learn more variations. I also think he could be a handy batsman and should do some upper body conditioning.

10.  Cummins not sure I rate him but he has bowled well in spurts so needs a good run. Like Gabe he needs to start batting when called upon.

11.  Gabe, as you said, finally is doing some thinking and bowling well. He would have been a real handful surrounded by better bowling instead of being the leader of the pack. Needs a long run as he seems the best around at the moment.

It is a shame that the likes of Guyanan Beaton has fallen by the wayside as he looked a genuine bet to have a long successful International career. Trinbago has given him a lifeline and he had some good spells in the CPL. Roach seems burnt out and, like Bishoo, did not have his workload managed well. When he started his career, I predicted injuries, particularly back, as he does not follow through thus putting a lot of strain on the lower back. Johnson could have been good and know he is on the A tour. Cotterrell another given a lifeline by Trinbago and never really rated him.

Generally my view has always been West Indian cricketers seem to take a long time to come to terms with International Cricket so they need to have a run instead of this constant chopping and changing except where it seems obvious they are not up to it like Leroy.

ChristinaIt is time for a full evaluation and accountability to the people of this region for the disastrous batting performance of the West Indies Cricket Team. We cannot disregard what all of us witnessed and endured in the last three test matches. This is not about our players, administrators, or any individual; it is an entire system that is failing, and together, all of us must fix it now.
