www.kaieteurnewsonline.com/2014/03/16/le...nd-slow-train-crash/
Even though the Georgetown to Rosignol public train service ended in 1972,
we are witnessing a train crash very slowly in Guyana – the Guyana Cricket train.
"I use Ryan Ramdass as a symbol that represents the derailment of cricketing talent in Guyana–
not by their own efforts or lack thereof
but at the will of selectors and the Guyana Cricket Board "

"Rohan Kanhai, Clive Lloyd, Colin Croft, Roy Fredericks, Alvin kallicharran ,Lance Gibbs, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Shiv Chanderpaul,
Carl Hooper etc.
This, I would respectfully submit, makes Guyana, on a per capita basis :
one of the most successful countries in the world for producing exceptional cricketers. "

I do not think Butts as a Guyanese should be promoting anything but the best team. That should be his focus and not specifically on Guyanese players as that in itself is a cancer otherwise termed insularity.
With respect to the selection of the best team, we are all aware that has not been the case so he is culpable for some of the failures in Windies Cricket.
However it is not him that is keeping Sammy and Gibson in post and I suspect selectors are really patsies and puppets. I believe Jumadeen was sacked under a cloud.
With respect to the support Bishoo should have been given. Leggies are treasures and should be nurtured. It was clear Bishoo was totally over bowled and expected to be the Messiah, much like Narine now and when he dipped he was ditched. A lot of what Bishoo needs to do has to come from himself, his local Board and the WICB.
However players like Sarwan, Barath and others have to take ownership for their performances. In the first place what has the GCB or TTCBC done for their ailing players? This should not exclude what the WICB should be doing.
Bishoo, Sarwan and Barath have not been excluded from their respective teams and when they are playing they are not producing. All these players took themselves to International level not any Board or WICB.
Barath is a particular disappointment to me and it is tragic a potential match winner, in Bishoo, has not produced more consistently for Guyana.
Sarwan has to deal with Sarwan as if he is still allowing Gibson to be in his head then there should be no room for him.
Beaton, I am impressed with but has much to learn as he delivers promise and wayward bowling in equal measures. He has to put in the yards and the GCB should be supporting him in the first place.
Shiv is the exception and with so few tests being played, he too will soon be dropped.

that's an accurate response Mail..on the ball.
I don't see how Butts is as culpable for Guyanese issues as described by ketchim here.
I am not concerned about Butts but about the state of Guyanese cricket..which was a very productive cricket. but to get Guyana going again is not up to anything Butts does
would the replacement of a relevant number on the west indies team by Fudadin, Barnwell, Permaul, Bishoo, Sarwan lead to a re-energising of Guyana cricket and solve all the problems there ::confused:: ::confused::
if that is the case hem pick them and drop from the west indies all in the way

anyhow: the rise of the bureaucracy in cricket is the problem..the way the game is run and by whom for what reason.
as long as a bureaucracy with a vested interest runs the game in the region the survival of that bureaucracy has become substituted for the cricket. the interest of the bureaucracy comes first before anything to do with cricket
that is their purpose at factory road. that is what their daily routine is all about..looking after the bureaucracy..looking after itself
until that is resolved there will be no cricket resurgence in the region. I have argued this for years now. I am right. it is a very simple situation to understand. there is no middle ground. it is either the peoples' interest dominate or the bureaucracy will dominate.
and if it dominates..as it dominates now.. the cricket will suffer terribly. end of story.
and by this I mean all of the region.. from the wicb down to the regional boards. it is 1 big inter-related bureaucracy. so cricket suffers at its hands everywhere it intersects with the players..in every territory..Guyana included
