Kylester,
It is reported Amla does not want to lead the team, although he may have been captained South Africa at ten age group levels.
However why do think AB is the best choice?
Personally being the keeper, a main batsman and captain seems too much for one man

In the lead-up to the Tests against India, there had been selection discussions over Tsolekile's role in the squad.
Support for South Africa's seven-batsmen strategy with AB de Villiers keeping wicket because of the balance it gave the team.
The other argument concerned Faf du Plessis' poor form - he has not scored a Test half-century in eight innings -
and whether there was merit
in giving Tsolekile a chance as a specialist wicketkeeper.

Thami is no rabbit.
and we have to deal with things as they are..not what we dream etc.
Ramdin can bat..always could bat. he began his test career with sterling performances in Oz as keeper/bat. after all the lix about not batting up to his level he is in fact up to his level over the past 2-3 years.
well that is wat I at least meant...up to his ability.
if thami is what you have he is what you have. you do not collude behind his back to keep him out. 7 batsmen my rarse. you have them and they were not performing. and Thami is not as bad a bat as you make out

After the retirement of Graeme Smith, South Africa are faced with the tough situation of nominating someone to be the new captain of the national team. It becomes extra tough when the guy who retired was the most successful captain in the history of the sport. All eyes are now on De Villiers and Amla, to become the next captain. But in my opinion, De Villiers should be selected as the next captain because he is younger then Amla.
