It is not my point of view ..Numbers dont LIE :
Sarwan had 3 appearances , was adjudged wrongly for a Duck on 1 occasion.
and STILL occupy the # 3 spot of highest runs of the tournament !
Shiv with 2 appearances occupy the # 5 spot !
Like I said it is sheer weight of runs scored ....not a " personal POV "
The Selectors XI LOST by lack of runs

Are we talking T20 as we are quoting 50 overs stats?
I have to admit I am not influenced by the Country/ Island bias.
However where ever they come, Gayle, Samuels and that Lucian should not have played.
The captain and coach were pathetic suggesting a few were rusty because of injuries.
So ketchy using your theory your team would be, although it was a50 overs set of statistics,,,,
Smith
Carter
Sarwan
Bonner
Shiv
Simmons
Ramdin
Emrit
Benn
Rampaul
Narine

So you are basing a 50 overs competition to select a T20 team.
If you are to do stuff like that then Miller, amongst others, would be in the test team.
With respect to Sarwan, in my view, far too under prepared but if you had to have a punt it would be against Ireland.
FOR ME IF AND WHEN HE FORCES HIS WAY BACK THEN HE IS FIXED UNTIL HIS RETIREMENT.
For the T20s the only real change I would have made to the playing 11 would be Gayle, Sammy and Samuels and the perennial International failure Smith. Fill that with whoever but I would have Lil Bravo in.

Dont wanna get LiL Bravo in T20 mode.....our Test cricket future hinges on him !
20 overs vs. 50 overs is a matter of application and strategy . No biggie
Shiv is about to retire so he gets 20 over based on being the #5 runs getter at Nagico

Ok I can see your point about Barvo but he has a good technique and I think those types of players can play orthodox shots and still ahve a high strike rate.
I am hardly in favour of youngsters playing in this format but in his case like Sachin, Dravid etc he can be successful so I would include him.
I would say that apart from those guys who have honed their techniques before T20 the others will fail at any other format.
That said many of the India youngsters like Rehane, Dahwan and Kholi proves my theory wrong.

www.espncricinfo.com/westindies/content/story/720925.html
For West Indies, it was their fifth T20 defeat in a row;
hardly the sort of form you want to be taking into a tournament as defending champions.
Their World Twenty20 campaign begins in just over a month and Ottis Gibson will need to crank up the intensity for the
second Ireland match, ahead of three more T20s against England next month.

Darren Sammy, Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels all missed the domestic 50-over competition with injuries, and it showed

Since losing to GUYANA in the opening Regional Super50 fixtures :
Ireland have grown more accustomed to Caribbean climes. ::LOL::
