If you clean stables be proud. it pays your bills.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

Ramesh,
Great you admit to being a Pan Africanist as being proud of ones ancestry is a marvellous condition. Many people had struggles throughout history but in this case, Blacks were forced to dump their Islamic and local practices during slavery and made to follow Christianity, something they still do today, interestingly enough. I also believe many in Africa are also Christians, without the duress of slavery.
Faced with Slavery, Colonialism and Racism a uniting view was not only necessary but inevitable. However the brand of Pan Africanism practices by Vivian and your dear self Ramesh seems rather racist. Replace injustice with another form is counter productive.
Many Indian in your region have maintained a culture, language, names etc and many had chosen to convert to some form of Christianity. Those that did and do, did and do so at the detriment of an entire culture with the sense of dress, names, music disappearing. In my study I have a very good book called 'Mr. Speaker Sir', by Lionel Frank Seukeran which is interesting. In many cases conversion took place to get ahead in many professions, especially teaching.
It is possible that this Pan Africanist view influences the ownership of West indies Cricket, at the moment, excluding all others but Blacks on the gravy train will soon, if not already, be transferred to the Indians, via the BCCI. Tragic.
So Ramesh you can be proud of your roots as this is discovering oneself rather than becoming an extremist. I suppose you have adopted an African name and religious practice and you have conveyed this onto your children so they too can grow up appreciating their heritage.
