This is not the first time this has happened on this tour.
We have continually gotten ourselves in excellent positions and in the test series the tailenders were allowed to create havoc and now in the ODIs.
This is not to devalue Faulkner's excellent blitzkrieg!
The balance of the team needs looking at as when you have Butler coming in at 8 and Stokes at 9, this shows imbalance in the bowling.
Given the depth of the batting in the the team selected, Cooky having won the toss should have bowled first given the batting depth.
All in all, quite gutted, but a good game.
Sydney will see us turn this around.
Come on England....

Gotta love ya optimism Mailer, but I beg to differ. Eng cannot recover from this shocking defeat in two day's time
Faulkner & Mad Max saved our hides, chasing down 300 after our too 3/4 failed was phenomenal

Faulkner
's 69* is highest score by an Aussie No.9 batsman in ODI history. Previous best - Andy Bichel (63 vs NZ)
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

Whoa, Jimmeh! What a ledge. I wouldn't rush to call him anything - but bloody hell, he's gone to "a handy ODI batsman" to a quality all-rounder and a terrific finisher. Doing once you could attribute to fluke, but this is really brilliant and Jimmeh's proven his worth.
I'd really given up hope when Maxi got out tbh. But whoa.
