no. west indian pitches were always covered in my time.
I was not aware of the development of the issue you have entered here but I know it was a long standing one.

I read of uncovered pitches..sticky bogs of the past. indeed it was a feature of the cricket writing in the old days. but since I began looking at cricket I never saw an uncovered one..nor read of one during that time..then to now
I don't have an opinion now either way. on the way here I have stood for covered pitches all the way. I don't know now.
guess they have to make sure if possible that play can go on. that is what the people pay to see..play on the field. but wet pitches are challenge to batsmen and it should be very interesting to see how they cope
