Too young to have seen Sobers live but most people who have seen both say its Sobers. Maybe its just nostalgia speaking but there has to be a reason Sobers so highly rated by everyone.

I don't really know kallis so I have to go with Sir Garfield Sobers, I've liked watching the games he played in since I was small, he's one of my favourite players ever. I even had a bat signed by him. Well even if I did know kallis I still probably would choose Sobers.

Jog my memory Mail. I'm curious, might be just me forgetting those innings. I do recall him playing some horribly slow innings when declaration was due and so on.

You make a valid point. Kallis has certainly been guilty of that at times, but he has also got our team out of trouble. The test that immediately comes to mind was his maiden test century in Melbourne, December 1997. I remember the feeling was that the only way South Africa could save that test was if Gary Kirsten scored a hundred, but he was out for a duck. Kallis came in at 1/1 with a very poor record in tests and finally showed signs of the great batsman he was to become.
That's why they travelled so much less. It took them forever to get anywhere.
