I agree Googs and I wonder if the delayed announcement of the venues has a bearing on the final squad.
Perhaps it was a condition by the BCCI!

Sky did a tribute to Sachin last night, picking out 3 of his best test tons. These tons were v England at Headingly 2002 where he score 193 (during that innings he surpassed Sachin's 153 in 9 innings for 2003!!), 241* v Australia at Sydney and 103* v England 2008.
Firstly what struck me about this tribute is where has all the time gone as seeing Bracken bowl in Sydney shocked me as I thought he was far more recent than 2004!
The last match I recall well as, at Pietersen's insistence, England returned to India after the bombing incident and, in this particular match, Sachin strolled to the crease at 141-2, India needing a further 246 for victory which they did, Sachin after much drama on 99 hit the winning boundary.
This innings was really patchy interspersed with some great shots but that Sydney innings was brutal and he destroyed the Aussies and he was not chewing Gum..lol.
Masterful, fluent, destructive, powerful and simply majestic. For effortless power and grace, this innings is the best I have, possibly, ever seen to date.
It is really his last 13 tests which have been poor and in his career, 2003 was his annus horribilis averaging 17 in 5 tests.

Goodbye Sachin. I don't know if it's all the Sachin fanatics or him dragging on for too long, I don't actually feel as sad as I did with Dravid's retirement. Anyways, will miss him for sure. I thought this was pretty much on cards when I saw that WI are to play tests in India
Would have preferred if he had played in SA, but I guess retiring on 200 tests at home is more flash.
