Girls poison male teacher's meal POLICE officers were called to a Roman Catholic primary school in south Trinidad yesterday after a report was made that children poured a poisonous concoction on a sandwich meant to be eaten by a teacher.
A combination of glue, water and other chemicals was poured onto the bread and channa sandwich which was served for breakfast yesterday.
Parents of pupils at the school are calling for the Education Ministry to discipline a standard four female pupil who allegedly masterminded the plan.
Parents said it could have been a serious situation not only if the male teacher had eaten the food but, also, if it had been consumed by another child.
The parents claim it was not the first time the 14-year-old showed behavioural issues, and the child had been under the assessment of a social worker.
Two other girls were also said to be involved in yesterday's plot.
The plan was foiled after another pupil overheard the girls speaking about pouring the mixture on the meal to be eaten by the teacher they disliked.
They were all made to apologise to the male teacher, who later made a report to the police.
Police officers visited the school and also spoke to the child's grandmother, the Express confirmed yesterday.
But parents want more to be done as they claim it was not the first time the teacher was targeted. Parents said the teacher's watch went missing some time ago and it was never recovered.
In addition, his attendance record was once defaced.

Officials on Sunday were investigating the drowning of a man in a triathlon at High Cliff State Park in Sherwood, Wis.
The Calumet County Sheriff's Department said 42-year-old Doug Witmer of La Grange, Ill., died Saturday morning at the High Cliff Triathlon.
Officials provided no further details about the death, but they did confirm it was a drowning incident.
Family friend Kasey Madden said those close to Witmer were "shocked" and "jolted" by his death, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Witmer is survived by a wife and two children, aged 10 and 6.

Every office has its drama, but software engineer and self-described "office cougar" Jeevani Wickramaratna ended up in jail for all the pot-stirring she reportedly did at work. She was
convicted
of sexual harassment after a slew of allegations, including that after a married co-worker offered her some birthday cake, she obsessively emailed him and falsely claimed they were having an affair (and that he had HIV). Having made things incredibly awkward, she then left for a new company where she immediately accused a new married co-worker of sexual harassment, and sent 107 emails to the married owner of the company while calling at work and at home with further accusations. It's almost like Wickramaratna didn't even CARE about software engineering! Perhaps her true calling is writing erotic fiction.

The heartbroken widow of prominent Manhattan real estate investor David Winoker told mourners Sunday that she talked him into the skydiving adventure that cost him his life.
“I can’t think of when he said ‘no.’ That was the problem. Maybe he should have said ‘no’ to me one more time,†Jillian Winoker told more than 400 grieving friends and relatives at the Temple Shaaray Tefila in Bedford Corners in Westchester County.
Winoker, 49, who ran Winoker Realty, died Friday in a freak tandem parachute jump in Ulster County. The skydiving tragedy also killed Alexander Chulsky, 25, of Brooklyn.
The outing was organized to celebrate a friend’s 50th birthday.
As their three children — Jared, 15; Hillary, 13; and Allison, 7 — sat near their father’s casket, Jillian Winoker described her husband as “cautious in everything.â€
