Recent reports of flesh-eating attacks in Miami, mysterious
rashes
and chemicals found in Broward County, and a crazed Orlando-area anesthesiologist spitting blood on troopers seem to signal that Florida is on the brink of a
zombie
apocalypse.
But the federal government is now telling us there is nothing to worry about.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
spokesman David Daigle last week wrote an email to
The Huffington Post
telling the news agency, "CDC does not know of a
virus
or condition that would reanimate the dead (or one that would present zombie-like symptoms)."
Well that's a relief.
But if you're not fully convinced, you can head over to the CDC's website and check out their
'Zombie Preparedness' page
. Yes, it exists.
The CDC has taken a tongue-in-cheek approach to the zombie news with a zombie blog, posters, and the comic novella, 'Preparedness 101: Zombie Pandemic' that you can
view online
.
Online readers have been eagerly munching away at zombie-related news coming out of Florida, other states, and Canada. The term 'zombie apocalypse' has trended on
Google
multiple times. Today it's at No. 19.
