A few years ago I attended a Ravi Shankar concert at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. At the end of the first rendition (with Alla Rakha on the tabla) the audience gave them a lusty round of applause. Ravi took the microphone and embarassingly responded that the concert had not yet begun - they were just tuning up their instruments!
I saw both him and his daughter Anushka about two years ago. They were as awesome as ever. RIP old fella.
