dont you think that religion is the foundation for the law? if your talking about rigidity shouldnt then the law also be lumped in with your statement re religion and culture?
Religion in of itself, in its purest form.,....is actually good. Human culture is what messes it up.

but religion is a product of human culture!
wat...yuh think god really come down and give man word to spread to the rest ahwe?
dat wud have been really wasteful of god as he had a mike and moses had none..just he one voice... and had had to walk to meetings. god cud ah broadcast he world to everyone at the same witm whyu depend on moses, and jesus, and ole mo with a in arab dress, krishna and all dem fellas and dem.
and ole misogynist god never taught to give any woman the word..not even a word fuh crise seake. he only taught to take advantage of poor ingrant mary, to drop one on she without she even knowing.
seriously if religion made any kind of contribution to the development of human law that still doh mek it a universally god development good fuh all time.
any usefullness religion may ever have contained is now exhausted. to go forward if we are to keep relgion it must at the very least be updated, reformed, made relevant to the truth we have proved

Maybe one should put themselves in this family shoes and try to look at things from their perspective . They came from an ancient Pashtun culture where honour matters most . Through no fault of their own, driven from their homeland by the NATO imperialist and forced to settle in a strange land .
Promiscuity , the most dishonourable conduct imaginable by daughters in their culture, was just too much for this family to to accept and they did something irrational
I do not condone what they have done but I understand.

My point exactly.
It is imperative that Immigration Canada..
Forms a Consultation group to TEACH these Cultures :
wot they really coming in to :
A Permissive Society where everywhere you turn it is all about Sex.
The Ads, the TV shows , the Dress code in Schools.
the make up , the boyfriends et cetera...

Me not gonna argue.
All i say is that a " briefing " OR " Debriefing "
ON Permissive Societies SHOULD be a Mandatory Class :
Then , we will NOT have these Cultural issues like DisHonor !
