Guyana OIL : news update !

This is an area that has to be throughly examined and pressure tested. In addition to the president’s office having oversight, there needs to be a governance structure establish so that there are appropriate checks and balances, segregation of duties, internal controls etc at different layers. The governance structure, systems and processes that are put in place need to be evaluated by several parties/independent bodies including the auditor general office, legal office, independent consultants, public etc with the appropriate expertise prior to implementation. There needs to be ongoing evaluations and enhancements. The goal is transparency, accountability, anti corruption, anti fraud, public and other stakeholders confidence.
