Female teacher suspended for ‘pimping’ student

A female teacher attached at the Pomona Secondary School, on the Essequibo Coast, has been suspended, a week after she instigated a relationship between one of her students and a young man from Berbice.
According to reports, the man who was on the Coast and posed as a relative of a senior politician, was introduced to a 15-year-old student of the school, by the teacher.
After being given consent to be in the company of the teen, for one evening, the man, who was subseqently identified by police as Wazeer Ramotar, a mini-bus conductor from West Coast Berbice, was later charged and remanded to prison.
Ramotar, who attempted to have sex with the underaged girl, was charged with having sexual activity with a minor.
The incident was later reported to the Aurora Police Station by the girl’s parents. The matter is now engaging the attention of the welfare department as well as the Education Department at Anna Regina. :
