MUMBAI:
Friends
and family of
Jiah Khan
and Suraj Pancholi say the young couple was in a relationship that seemingly was like any other between two young persons trying to find their feet in Bollywood.
Jiah, 25, and Suraj, 22, were family friends but came close through social networking. Jiah was struggling to bag meaty roles after her three movies while Suraj was aspiring to be an actor and was working hard for a big-bang launch.
A friend said the relationship was volatile. There were times when she used to get upset and stop talking to him. Suraj would then please her by sending bouquets. There were times he liked being sought out, and Jiah apparently did that for him. On Monday night too, she landed up outside Suraj's house looking for him, said the friend.
"When you like someone, you want to do everything for him or he, you want to be with the person always. There are times when you fight and don't want to know the person, but then you make up later," Suraj's father Aditya Pancholi said.
"Suraj is trying to make his way in the industry and is extremely busy attending dancing lessons, gymming. Perhaps Jiah's grouse was that he could not devote enough time to her," said Zarina, Suraj's mother, adding that her
heart
went out to Jiah's mother Rabiya. "My thoughts and prayers are with Rabiyaji for it is she who has suffered the greatest loss today. May Allah grant her the strength to cope with this tragedy. Jiah was such a pretty girl, and although I never met her in person, I was aware of her relationship with my son."
