Guyana Jaguars obliterates the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force by an innings and 217 runs

Veerasammy Permaul bowls for the Guyana Jaguars during the Digicel Regional 4-Day tournament.

Defending champions Guyana Jaguars mauled the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force by an innings and 217 runs in their round four Digicel Regional 4-Day match at the Brian Lara Academy, Tarouba.

Left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul took five for 54 in the second innings to finish with match figures of nine for 47 and medium pacer Keemo Paul claim four for 26 to dismantle the Red Force second innings. The hosts were dismissed for 147 with Imran Khan and Daniel St. Clair top scoring with 28 runs each.

This win underlined Guyana’s status as the most dominant First Class team in the region and left the Trinidad and Tobago selectors and coaching staff with a great deal of food for thought. The Regional 4-Day tournament will go a one week break before the Red Force travels to St. Kitts to play the Leeward Islands at Warner Park.

The batting proved to be inconsistent and the bowling lacked penetration against a formidable Jaguars team. Benefitting from the break will be Red Force captain, Denesh Ramdin who sustained a hamstring injury while fielding. The break will allow Ramdin precious time to recuperate before the next round starts.
